UnAlgorithm guide

Use YouTube without letting recommendations choose the session.

YouTube is useful for a specific video, teacher, or subject. The difficulty is that the home page asks you to choose from an infinite queue before you have decided what you came for.

Start with a destination

Open a saved channel, a direct link, or search for the exact question you have. A search can be imperfect and still be better than beginning with whatever was optimized to hold your attention.

Keep a short learning trail

When a video helps, save the source and write the next question it creates. That turns a recommendation session into a path you can resume later, rather than a sequence you cannot explain afterward.

Make the feed optional

UnAlgorithm keeps the YouTube home feed out of the way on supported browsers and helps translate one goal into searches worth making. It does not remove your ability to watch chosen videos, search, subscribe, or use playlists.
